Pokemon Go Halloween event: Which NEW Pokemon will arrive this Halloween?

Pokemon Go players have until 9pm on Thursday (November 1) to enjoy the Halloween-themed special event.

Niantic is using the week-long event to introduce a couple of Ghost and Dark-type characters.

And trainers have the first opportunity to catch flying ghost types Stunky, Drifloon and their evolved forms Skuntank and Drifblim.

And most exciting of all, it sees the release of the first Gen 4 Legendary.

The event also released a new Special Research questline called A Spooky Message.

This revolves around the Gen 4 ghost Pokemon Spiritomb.

And it sees you take on Professor Willow in some hair-raising challenges.

And players will again be able to double the normal amount of Candy they earn for capturing Pokemon in this period.

Players have also reported increased spawns of the following existing spooky Pokemon:

Alolan Rattata

Zubat, Golbat and Crobat

Houndour and evolution Houndoom

Shuppet and evolution Banette

Duskull and evolution Dusclops

Witch Hat Pikachu

Witch Hat Picha (2km Eggs only)

The Halloween event also introduce the game’s first Ghost-type Legendary Pokemon called Giratina.

Players will need to travel to a Gym where a Giratina Raid is taking place and battle it in order to catch it.

Giratina presents a formidable opponent, so players will need to team up and pool their resources.

If you've hit Pokemon Go's level cap of 40, you should be able to bring Giratina down with a team of 6-8 players.

The more players you are with the higher the chances of success.

New avatar items like Drifloon hat and a Gengar backpack are also available.

And a Gengar raid event will be hosted at the culmination of the annual event.

Trainers can still participate by updating their game with the latest patch.

A recent Pokemon GO newsletter said: “Breaking news! Breaking news, trainers.

“Professor Willow reports that spooky events have occurred nearby.

“Could they be the work of a Ghost-type Pokemon? Stay tuned to find out.”
