UK weather forecast: Britain braces for SOARING temperatures as southerly winds arrive

Parts of the country will enjoy some sunny and warmer tomorrow as warm winds coming from Europe will swipe across England allowing temperatures to recover.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin warned temperatures in the single figures will persist in the north of the country but for many, it will be a sunny and bright day.

He said: “Eastern areas looking a lot brighter and a lot drier on Wednesday.

“And the winds in a completely different direction.

“I will feel quite a bit warmer as temperatures across the south on Wednesday get into the teens.

“We haven’t seen that for a while.

“Still across northern Britain we’re only looking a single figures. It’s still feeling rather chilly.

“As we go towards Wednesday evening there’s a threat of this rain toppling in for the south-east and East Anglia.”

Despite the promising imminent forecast, BBC Weather host Susan Powell forecast the leftovers of Storm Oscar to make its way to the UK on Friday, bringing some very wet and windy weather while also bumping temperatures back up to average.

She said: “By the end of the week, however, we’re facing a prospect of a deep area of low pressure rolling our way, containing the remnants of Tropical Storm Oscar.

“Warm tropical air is tied up in this system so it will bump our temperatures up to average values, but it looks like it will perhaps bring us widespread gales, and a hooking of very heavy rain.”

Tonight will be mostly dry with temperatures turning cold under the clear skies.

BBC Meteorologist Matt Taylor said: “Very cold again, particularly across western areas this morning.

“The cold showers keep coming in and going throughout the day, with a few sunny spells in eastern Scotland, always cloudier though towards the south-east corner.”

After a wet and dull morning on Thursday, skies will turn brighter from the west in the afternoon.

Temperatures will become milder on Friday, with conditions turning wet and windy for some of Saturday.
