UK weather forecast: SNOW and powerful gales with showers grip Britain THIS weekend

UK weather is expected to be more wintery this weekend as temperatures remain in single digits and low teens, and snow and rain hit country. The Met Office’s meteorologist Alex Deakin explained the southwest will experience rain, showers and strong winds. Meanwhile, snow could in strike Scotland and bring blanket the hills of northern England. Mr Deakin said: “This weekend there will be gusty winds means the weather will be frequently chopping and changing.

“The rain kind of zones on Saturday morning across the far north of Scotland where it is also very windy with gales.

“It is blustery elsewhere with lots of showers for Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England.

“There will be some snow in those showers, mostly over the hills and then in the south, most places will be having a bright and breezy Saturday.

“We will continue with showers to the west of the Pennines and across parts of Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland.

“That sunshine in the south will tend to disappear as clouds spell in.

“Temperatures in the south could make it into the teens whereas further north it is going to feel pretty chilly especially when the showers come along.”

Wet weather from the southwest will move across the country over Saturday night and will be accompanied by “gusty” winds.

The wall of rain will move northwards through Wales and England and bring some snow over the Welsh mountains.

The Met Office meteorologist continued: “There is a possibility of more wet weather coming in from the northwest and it is a real mishmash as we go into Sunday.

“There is some uncertainty of the extent of the wet weather in England as it may clear away during Sunday and further north there could be bounds of showers with some snow mixed in.

“At this stage, the snow will be mostly over the hills but there could be some snow at relatively low levels across parts of Scotland at times.

“It will be quite a cold day on Sunday, in fact everywhere is going to feel pretty chilly.

“There will certainly be a colder feeling in the south compared to Saturday as there will be some gusty winds.”
