BBC Weather: UK HOTTER than Spain as SCORCHING 25C heatwave hits

BBC Weather forecaster Alina Jenkins warned the hot has already started to sweep in through the country with temperatures reaching up to 21C today. The weather presenter claimed today could be the hottest day of the year so far, soon to be trumped by Saturday when the mercury will reach up to 25C in the south. She said: “Temperatures are on the rise. By the time we get to Saturday parts of central to southern England could see highs of around 25C helped by some strong April sunshine.

“Winds coming in from the south-east pushing warm air across much of central and easter Europe our way.

“However, across Iberia things are cooler and more unsettled thanks to an area of low pressure.

“On Saturday some parts of the UK will be warmer than Spain.

“Today has been a chilly start across northern and eastern Scotland, we’ve had some mist fog and low cloud particularly in the East Midlands and East Anglia.

“This will be lifting with all of us seeing some good spells of sunshine today.

“Just a bit hazy at times with some areas of high cloud.

“Temperatures quite widely between 16C and 20C and up to 21C or 22C across some southern parts of England.

“That would make it the warmest day of the year so far.”

meteorologist Alex Deakin also reported that going into the afternoon the sun will settle in to provide temperatures in the low twenties across the UK. The pollen count is also forecast to be high, so hay fever sufferers should be prepared

Mr Deakin added: “It will be Spring sunshine for pretty much all of us although it will be a mirky old start to Thursday.

“It won’t be a cold start in the south as temperatures in some areas will remain in double digits.

“As we go through they that cloud will melt away.

“You will need the sunscreen over the next few days which will lift the temperatures across the country.”

Kicking off the Easter weekend, the sun will once again bake the country with temperatures getting into the twenties, especially in the south.

Temperatures could get warmer than Thursday for many, however as the breeze hitting the east coast will begin to weaken throughout Friday morning.
