We must rally to help the people of Sri Lanka – EXPRESS COMMENT

We might be beating back the evil of the Islamic State in Syria, but many of those highly dangerous and radicalised men and women are prepared to bring their murderous intent elsewhere.

In the face of the misplaced handwringing from some people in this country about the plight of young British jihadis who wish to return to the UK, they might want to contemplate exactly what it is that these people have been trained to do.

But for now our thoughts must be with the victims of the attacks in Sri Lanka, their families and indeed the millions of totally innocent Sri Lankans who had thought the years of tumult, fighting and warfare were behind them and now wake up to find themselves faced with this.

Our hearts go out to all of them and the world must rally to their aid.

After all, the future of every one of us is at stake.

Middle-class muppets...

If it were not so serious it would be laughable.

The climate change "activists" – for which read middle-class poseurs who see no irony in stopping people from using public transport and forcing them to use gas-guzzling cars instead –  are finally beginning to tone down their behaviour, perhaps considering that they have lost a huge amount of public support.

But it is shameful that these people were allowed to get away with it for as long as they did.

The vast majority gave the impression of being privileged people enjoying themselves in the spring sunshine while causing massive inconvenience to the rest of us.

They must not be allowed to indulge in these shenanigans again.

Happy Birthday to Her Majesty

Has ever a country been more blessed in its monarch than we are?

Yesterday the Queen turned 93 – an age that for most people would have signalled several decades of retirement – and yet there she was, as indomitable as ever, celebrating Easter in the Sunday sunshine.

And also there were most of the other senior members of the Royal Family, showing their love and support.

The monarchy is clearly secure for generations to come.
