Esther McVey’s wild past: The shocking photos of PM hopeful she won’t want you to see

got caught up in a spat with TV host this week after the MP claimed she was promoted above the presenter during a brief stint working together at GMTV. Lorraine has hit back at the claims and said she doesn’t remember working with Esther back in 1999. Who is Esther McVey and what is this shocking photo?

Former journalist Ms McVey is a fierce Brexiteer and entered politics in 2010.

Before she became a Conservative MP for Merseyside, Ms McVey worked for GMTV, the BBC and Channel 4.

She attended red carpet events about town while working as a journalist and there are a few embarrassing snaps from those times Ms McVey probably wouldn’t want you to see.

One such photo was taken at a Flintstones Movie premiere party Ms McVey attended in July, 2000.

The picture, taken at Planet Hollywood in London, shows Ms Mcvey biting down on a large plastic bone while flanked by two shirtless men in leopard print tuxedos.

A second photo from the event captures McVey as she clutches the bone while standing between the two hunks.

Other red carpet images show the Tory leadership contender in a sheer white dress, a plunging gold top and numerous showing her toned stomach.

More than a decade later, Ms McVey, 51, seems a far cry from the night owl she once was.

But a string of pictures from the early 2000s shows she was a regular at TV bashes.

From the 2002 Television & Radio Industries Club awards to a Crimestoppers Trust fundraiser, Esther was snapped at a string of celebrity-studded events.

Esther McVey’s political career

Since launching her political career in 2010, Ms Mcvey has had several cabinet roles.

In 2012 she was appointed Minister for Disabled people and in 2013 she was made the Minister of State for Employment.

Aside from politics, she has been Chair of British Transport Police Authority, Honorary Fellow of Liverpool University and Senior Advisor to an international communications company.

Esther was appointed Work and Pensions Secretary at the start of 2018 but resigned nine months later over Mrs May’s proposed Brexit deal.

Ms McVey has said she would take the UK out of the EU without a deal.

Writing on the Conservative Party website about Brexit the said: Yes.

“An extension would be the final nail in the coffin for the already shredded trust we have with our voters. Facing up to a managed exit on 31st October is the only honest and realistic option.

“It will also mean we can spend the remainder of time we have before Brexit getting our country ready.

"And this must include how we use the £39 billion promised to the EU to support UK businesses and workers through the process of a clean exit.

“Further negotiations can then happen when we have actually left when I believe we should be bold and ambitious in securing a full-fat Free Trade Agreement which works for UK and EU business.”

Bookmakers Coral have Ms McVey at 100/1 to be the next Prime Minister.

Boris Johnson remains the hot favourite at 1/2.
