UK snow MAP: 70mph storm to bring widespread snow TOMORROW - Latest weather warnings

Wet and windy weather is forecast for the UK this week, and the Met Office has issued a number of weather warnings across the British Isles. is forecast for some regions on Wednesday, which is predicted to increase over the next few weeks.

One weather warning for wind, which extends along much of the Scottish coast and the north of England, has been issued between 5am until 9pm on Tuesday evening.

Another warning has been issued for Thursday, January 9, covering Wales, the Midlands and much of northern England and East Anglia.

The Met Office is forecasting “very strong winds”, and have warned of “a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris”.

According to WXCHARTS weather maps, the UK could also see maximum wind gusts of up to 70mph on Wednesday.

Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna told The Sun the windy weather can be attributed to low-pressure systems.

Mr Petagna said: “Monday’s low-pressure system will be followed by another on Tuesday and a third on Thursday.

“The centres of these lows are over Iceland, our wet and windy weather will be associated with these lows.

“There will be a risk of severe gales on Tuesday before it turns briefly calmer but colder on Wednesday, another low pressure comes in on Thursday.”

“Rain in the northwest, heavy at times, moving southeastwards through the day.

“Windy, with gales in the north and severe gales in exposed spots. Very mild for most.”


“Rain clearing with blustery showers in north.

“Drier further south with some clear periods, perhaps with frost across north Wales, northern England and Northern Ireland.”


“Sunshine and showers across Scotland with gales in north.

“Dry and sunny across Northern Ireland, England and Wales. Turning cloudy in the southwest with rain spreading northeast during the afternoon.”

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

“Rain and strong winds on Thursday slowly clearing east.

“Much brighter on Friday after widespread frost.

“Becoming windy on Friday night, with heavy rain in the northwest, persisting through Saturday.”
