I was born in 1964, so I missed the Cuban missile crisis by two years. The most devastating crisis of my lifetime has been the rise of Islamist terror after 9/11. But it's already obvious that the spread of Covid-19 dwarfs everything else since the Second World War in its impact. We are all heartbreakingly familiar with the death count, which is bad enough now but will get far worse over the next few months.
