Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: PS4 Xbox patch notes for COD Warzone download

UPDATE TWO: A new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is going live now on PS4, Xbox One and PC, bringing new Playlist changes as part of the new COD download.

Developers Infinity Ward revealed the news today, telling fans: "Tonight's playlist update for Modern Warfare is rolling out now across all platforms! Check out Gunfight 3v3 Snipers, Cyber Attack Pro, and more."

Cyber Attack Pro is a new mode variant which inserts an added tactical twist, with players no longer needing to revive teammates. Instead, respawns are enabled, "creating frenetic and fast-paced gameplay. Find the balance between completing the objective and eliminating enemies."

Activision has also confirmed that Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and double Battle Pass tier progression earn rate will be going live later this week, on April 3 at 6pm GMT, until April 6.

UPDATE: The big news is the launch of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered on PS4, which is set to arrive on Xbox One and Battle Net on April 30, 2020. Pre-ordering the new standalone campaign experience also adds new cosmetic content to Warzone mode.

"Free with purchase on PS4 or pre-purchase on other platforms is the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle that can be equipped for play instantly in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer, Special Ops, and Call of Duty: Warzone," a message from Activision explains.

"This Bundle includes the UDT Ghost Operator skin, turning Modern Warfare’s version of Ghost into the one seen in “The Only Easy Day... Was Yesterday” mission in the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign. It also has the aptly named ‘Task Force’ and ‘One For One’ weapon blueprints, a weapon charm, a Finishing Move, a calling card, an emblem, an iconic voice clip for Ghost and two Battle Pass tier skips. Get the UDT Classic Ghost Bundle free with purchase or pre-purchase of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered."

ORIGINAL: A new Modern Warfare playlist update could be released this week but there’s a good chance that it will be overshadowed by something bigger.

Like previous weeks, Activision and Infinity Ward are expected to launch some kind of COD patch in the coming days. Tuesday is when we usually see these new updates arrive for Modern Warfare and COD Warzone.

Recent leaks suggest that Infinity Ward is preparing to release a Duos, and a Quads playlist for Warzone.

There are also a number of bugs that are being looked into that could be released very soon.

Another report suggests that a special cosmetic bundle will be launched in the coming days for Warzone on PS4, Xbox One and PC

But things could run a little differently over the coming weeks, due to the Coronavirus and other releases being planned by Activision.

Last week saw a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update delayed, before being released days later.

This new patch also went live in the early hours rather than during its usual 6pm GMT time slot.

So while a new playlist tweak could be coming on March 31, Activision might have other plans.

And it should be noted that a new patch has already gone live for Modern Warfare this week.

There's no word on an exact launch time, although Activision often makes new content available at 6pm UK time.

However, it appears that some players in Germany have been able to access the game instantly, which suggests a midnight March 31 launch time.

According to a leak on the German PlayStation Store, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will have a budget price tag of €24.99.

This means UK fans can expect to pay £24.99 for the game when it launches on March 31.

Perhaps surprisingly, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has a hefty 46GB file size.

It’s unclear at this point if Activision is planning to drop the new Modern Warfare 2 experience as a surprise, or provide an announcement before launch.

The downside for fans of Modern Warfare 2 is that this new bundle will not include a multiplayer option on any platform.

There have been hints that instead of this option, Activision is planning to launch maps from Modern Warfare 2 in their MW game.
