BBC Weather: Temperatures plummet as frost and SNOW descend on Britain in 'big contrast'

BBC Weather's Matt Taylor stated that showers are expected across the northern regions of the country including Scotland, with some even turning to snow. Mr Taylor outlined that there is a "big contrast" between the weather expected this week and the warmer temperatures the UK experienced last week.

Mr Taylor said: "It is a really chilling start to Monday.

"Frost is around everywhere this morning, particularly in Wales, the Midlands and the north.

"It is not as chilly temperature-wise in the south of England.

"That is because there is a strong breeze here.

"A chilly start to the working week but mostly dry.

"There will be some sunny spells around today.

"We do have some cloud pushing down the east, an indication that there will be a few showers down parts of eastern Scotland and England."

He continued: "

That chilly feel still continues to go into tonight.

Mr Taylor concluded: "On Wednesday it will be sunniest again first thing in the morning.

"Temperatures are colder than normal for this time of year.

"Like most days this week, we will see temperature build-up throughout the day.

"A big contrast with last week."
